Todorov's theory

Todorov's theory says that in a story of a movie there are always going to be 5 stages:

-1 Equilibrium: The begining of a story eg the presentation of characters.

-2 Significant event: An event that has changed the ways thing are for a character eg realises he/her have super powers.

-3 Disequilibrium: The realising of the change of the character, in order for the protagonist to try and fix what has gone wrong, to be able to go back to his/her normal life. Eg find out how he got his superpowers and fight the villain.

-4 Climax: The last stage, only two results can come out of it and where there is the most tension created from the conflict. Eg when the hero is fighting the villain for the last time.

-5 New equilibrium: Everything has been resolved, life dose't go back exactly to the way it was so a new equilibrium is created, and most of the times it's better. Eg the hero defeats the villain, but still has to keep his superpowers and gets the girl he always dreamed of.
